In this video, at about 5:30, we see a pan to the left.

Up the street to the left, Wilson's SUV is parked facing away from the camera. You see the back of it. It's at an angle in the road.

The distance from the SUV to the body looks to be a whole lot more than 35 feet.

I don't think that is Wilson's patrol vehicle. His was wrapped in tape and taken away on a flatbed fairly early and that vehicle is outside the cordon.

It is definitely Wilson's vehicle. This is early, before all the cops arrived and all the tape was put up.

If you look closely, you can make out Brown's hat next to Wilson's SUV.

Wilson's SUV is readily identifiable by the cones and the hat next to it. It is facing the opposite direction of the other SUV's

In later shots, it has the crime scene tape.

Same scene here from the other direction. Wilson's SUV with the cones and hat next to it. The hat and cone can be seen through the one officer's legs.

Way in the distance, between the two SUV's, is Brown's body. You can see the white sheet, visible looking under the first of the distant SUVs.

It is further ID'd by the mirror being bent forward. That is the SUV that was loaded on a flatbed and removed.

Brown's body is a good 250 feet from the back of Wilson's SUV, imo.

Maybe we're looking at two different vehicles? The one on the video is outside the expanded cordon and even past an intersection. Above is the vehicle, the hat and Brown's body in one frame while EMT is still on-scene.

They used the passenger mirror as a tape anchor and wrapped the driver-side in tape.

It shows Wilson shot off a volley, stopped and shot again.

The witnesses said Wilson shot at the fleeing Brown. Brown stopped, turned around and tried to surrender, Wilson shot again and killed Brown.

Wilson claims (according to vague accounts so who knows) that he didn't shoot at Brown fleeing and only shot after Brown turned around. His account doesn't have him shooting, stopping and shooting again.
 
OK - I see where the confusion is....

The hat came off on the driver-side and the shooting happened on the passenger side.

There's no hat in that pic.

The cordon in the video is only around Brown's body. They haven't completed it yet.

If you look in the background of the photo (i.e. passenger-side) you see cones marking something on that side as well. The body is shielded by the SUV. The original photo was taken before the cones were placed. Look at the small crowd in the photo I posted and the larger crowds in the video.

To my knowledge, Wilson hasn't released a statement of any kind, so even if the recording is actually real, it doesn't vary with Wilson's story. He has no story, at least none that has been made public.

That's my problem. The chief's story changes, and this Josie person is worthless. The shots are reasonably consistent with the known witnesses, but not completely. Since we have no incident report so far...well, it doesn't mean much right now. I personally wouldn't trust a damn thing Wilson says at this point - to much info has been exposed. but I'd hope that the investigating department - which is the county, not the city - took a report immediately.

In other words, asking for the local PD's report (which, IIRC, was the one released) was likely a waste of time in any case, since they called on the county to take over nearly immediately (according to this timeline, 4-5 minutes after Brown was shot.)
 
In this video, you can see Wilson's SUV, identifiable by the mirror and spotlight positions, and wrapped in crime scene tape, at various times.

You can also, at about 3:25, see that same SUV being taken away on a flatbed.

There's no doubt in my mind that it's Wilson's SUV and that it's very far from Brown's body.

Again it is the only SUV facing the "wrong way" in comparison to the other vehicles.

You can't see the passenger side of the SUV at all.
I see the feet of someone standing behind it.

I'm going to veer off a bit here - *if* what all of the known witnesses say is true, then it's a good example of escalating force that is way over the top - -and also fairly ridiculous, given that Wilson couldn't possibly think it a good idea to pull a large person through a car window to be unrestrained and on top of him. Would he be instead trying to bang the kid's head into the side of the car?

I can't imagine a sequence where anybody would think that pulling somebody into a car through the window--particularly a big man like Michael Brown--was a good idea. About the best result you can hope for is to get his head inside the vehicle then roll up the window and trap him, although it would not be difficult for him to roll down the window.

OK - Let's try it this way.

Follow the red arrows. They mark the cordon. We can see from our perspective outside the cordon Brown's hat and two policeman watching the area. The thing being protected is inside the cordon and on the other side of the SUV+hat.

Also notice the edge of a cone by the right-most SUV. That marks the second burst.

If your posit is correct, the body is some distance behind the photographer in this image and Wilson shot him from ~ 200' away.
