Secondly the vast volume of evidence indicates that when our brains die so does our consciousness, It is a property of our brain in the same way being wet is a property of water.

There has been no evidence whatsoever at all that indicates life after death.

On a personal note I find the notion to be a nothing more then a coping mechanism for people who cannot accept the death of someone close to them.

I don't doubt that you have had experiences that have led you to such a belief, but that is your interpretation of the experiences, not the experiences themselves.

What we know from quantum field theory is that your interpretation cannot be correct. It is simply not possible.

But all that aside the only particles needed to work computers are electrons, which come from unstable atoms that can be acted upon by various components. All a computer does is switch on and off millions of logic gates very fast. It is using the same electron flow as a light bulb, but in a more sophisticated way.

And protons and neutrons, of course, to make up the material matrix, and photons that carry the electromagnetic force between them all.

But that is all that humans are made up of as well.

It is my experience that the spirit world does not exist, therefore there are no undetectable, higher particles.

Some people cannot grasp the concept of the burden of proof no matter how many times it is explained to them. Probably because they are so emotionally invested in a particular irrational belief that their minds simply reject it.

The complete lack of sensation I experienced when anasthesized for a knee operation convinced me that death is just like that.
Nothing.
No experience/sensation at all.
Just gone.

You wouldn't have if you didn't die for a few minutes then come back to life
 
When mentioning the blotto experience to others who've been knocked out that way they say it is what they've observed also.
Mostly, the lack of recognition that while under, nothing is experienced.
Usually I'm aware that time has passed when I wake up while sleeping, but this.. nothing!
I have no reason to expect death to be different.
Gone forever, and nothing/no way to experience it. The light is extinguished.

Death-a permanent cessation of all life functions followed by decomposition of the body-

Yes, I've had a few surgical procedures lately and I tried to determine when I went out but it was always just like turning off a light, now if we are more than our bodies why does the anesthesia work?
